Dr. Anijar is a board certified anesthesiologist and interventional pain management specialist who strongly believes that every person deserves to live a high-quality, pain-free life. He performs the full spectrum of pain management services ranging from regenerative therapies and epidural steroid injections to the latest minimally invasive procedures to treat lower back pain, cervical neck pain, and conditions like peripheral neuropathy and complex regional pain syndrome.
Dr. Anijar has trained with many of the world leaders in interventional pain medicine and was one of the first pain physicians in Florida to be trained on percutaneous sacroiliac joint fusions, minimally invasive lumbar decompressions, and interspinous spacer devices. He has a special interest in neuromodulation therapy and has performed hundreds of spinal cord stimulator and peripheral nerve stimulator implants. Dr. Anijar also has extensive experience in regenerative medicine and only uses regenerative products that have robust evidence based clinical data supporting their efficacy and safety.
Dr. Anijar studied Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, where he completed an advanced neuroscience senior project at the Yerkes Primate Center. He went on to earn his medical degree at the University of South Florida in Tampa and published multiple scientific articles in biomechanics, surgical oncology, and medical informatics. For his residency, Dr. Anijar attended the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. Following residency, he completed an interventional pain management fellowship at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois; one of the first pain management centers of excellence in the country.
Dr. Anijar is a strong believer in helping those in need and has participated in multiple overseas medical mission trips in the Dominican Republic and Ecuador providing anesthesia services for communities suffering from natural disasters. He regularly tutors children in math and science and organizes community health workshops teaching CPR for adults and children.
Known for his compassionate and caring bedside manner, Dr. Anijar listens to the needs of each of his patients and treats them as if they are family. Nothing excites him more than providing high quality care to his patients and seeing them get back to their normal lives. Dr. Anijar loves his chosen profession and is excited to provide the highest quality pain care to the communities of South Florida.
